Bankston Boyz Racing Gets 1st 3 second pass

7 - March 2009 - With off season testing behind Bankston Boyz Racing it was no secret they were heading into the National Guard ADRL Saftey-Kleen Dragpalooza V at Houston Raceway Park with confidence. The '68 Tim McAmis Pro-Nitrous Camaro, or as I refer to it the Blue Beast, driven by Tim Savell and tuned by crew chief Billy Banaka was the cream of the crop in Friday night qualifying round one. The Reher-Morrison 820 ci powerplant was tuned by Billy Banaka, with the aide of Brad Morgan of Reher-Morrison, to a career first run under 4 seconds in the eight mile. Savell was in the right lane and dropped the hammer on a brand new engine on its first full pass to a 3.99 second; 185.89 mph run that earned the number one spot.

"It (his run) was really good for the conditions," said Savell. "This is a brand new Reher Morrison motor and we don't have any data. We just got lucky. It was just an awesome hit. The best part is that we finally got some data."

Savell said afterwards that he was surprised that a good deal of the nitrous field had struggled during the session.

"Well, everybody here is just so good, I guess we just got lucky," said the Terry, Mississippi resident. "That was the first 3.90 we'd ever run." - www.adrl.us

There are not enough words to express the significance of this run in terms of the hard work and dedication put forth by the crew of the Blue Beast driven by Tim Savell. As in the spirit of the National Guard, teamwork and attention to detail were the mechanisms that provided Michael Bankston and all of Bankston Boyz Racing with their first 3 second pass. The moral support and technical advice provided by fellow competitors mean more to us as a team than words can express. Special thanks go out to Brad Morgan of Reher-Morrison for the assistance and to Mark Niebes for "reading" the track.

To all of you over there with the Blue Beast, (Tim, Cindy, Billy, Ronnie, David, and Lee Otis) I am proud of ya'll and thank you for one hell of a run!

Regards,
