Stan Allen’s First Round Pro Nitrous Upset Biggest Story At PBIR![]() Just a night after recording the quickest pass in ADRL Pro Nitrous history, the magic quickly ended for Mahana Al-Naemi in the first round of eliminations for the Safety-Kleen Spring Drags II at Palm Beach International Raceway. Al-Naemi, the top qualifier in Pro Nitrous, had a .021 red light, giving the win to Stan Allen, who needed a 3.96 run in the qualifying session to squeak into the field as the No. 16 qualifier. “We just want to win races,” Allen said. “They definitely had the faster car, but we just got lucky. I just try to run my race no matter what.” Now, Allen will meet Pat Stoken in the quarterfinals in a remarkable turn of events. Stoken beat teammate Jim Halsey in the first round and Allen hopes his Cinderella run continues on Saturday. “Hopefully we can keep going,” Allen said. “The main thing is to keep going rounds. This car has low 3.90s and high 3.80s in it.” John Decerbo’s 3.89 was the top run of the first round in Pro Nitrous. His reward is a second-round matchup with Khalid Al-Balooshi. |
