Bankston Boys test at State Capitol Raceway in Baton Rouge, LA on January 23 - 25![]() The Bankston Boyz Racing team began its 2009 test schedule this past Sunday the 25th of January in Baton Rouge, LA at State Capital Raceway. Michael Bankston only brought one of the "horses" out of the stable for a one day test at this historic facility. Stan Allen's Pro-Nitrous ADRL entry was placed on the Pro-Jacks for the team to prepare for a hit on the track. The day started as a normal January day in south Louisiana, overcast and a cool 52 degrees. After about an hour of preparations to include putting fluids in the motor, checking engine timing, setting valves, and clutch the car roared to life. After several minutes of warm up the engine was shut off. Soon it was discovered that aluminum shavings were coming from the starter and we had a vacuum leak. After minor repairs the motor was fired up once again with nothing noted out of the ordinary. Unfortunately, by the time these issues were corrected the day had passed without even making a pass. On a positive note Michael Bankston stated that he really wanted the crew to begin to prepare for the 2009 season. "It is critically important that our crew members fully understand their team responsibilities, and this is why I wanted to come down here to Baton Rouge. If we make a hit it will be even better!" stated Michael Bankston. Stan Allen's crew will be led by crew chief Mike Bankston with crew assignments being delegated. Crew member John Miller will continue to work the clutch pack this year, with crew member Joe Hamilton servicing valve train and motor. "Redeye" will continue with his work on the car overall with no specific assignment. Bankston Boyz Racing is planning to be in Belle Rose, La at No Problem Raceway for additional testing on all cars next weekend on Saturday the 31st of January. See you there! Regards, Mark Teague |
