![]() Press Release concerning the Martin Michigan Race Weekend8 June 2009 – Terry, MS – With the ADRL race in Martin, MI behind our backs Bankston Boyz Racing reflects on what was a quite interesting weekend for many people. Due to an unfortunate series of events the Pro-Nitrous class semi-finals and finals rescheduled from Memphis because of rain were run on Saturday at Martin, MI during qualifying rounds 2 and 3. The original plan was to run all rain delayed runs on Friday night but due to a semi-finalists obligation to his daughter for the same night a conflict presented itself. I am sure that any father out there would do the same for his child and for that I commend Mike Castellana for his value in placing family first. This is the reason the ADRL chose to break out the Pro-Nitrous class to have it run on Saturday during qualifying. Initially we were opposed to this option because of the hardship placed on Tim's team in particular. It would have forced us to get the into the Martin race on Friday night’s first round of qualifying so that we could step it up in order to race during Saturday’s qualifying. If we hurt the motor during those runs we might not have been afforded the time required to get a new bullet ready to go. A D N Q for the Martin race could be hard to overcome this late in the season with Tim in 7th in points for the Battle for the Belts later this season. It would be really convenient for us to whine about the circumstances and we feel as a team this attitude would not truly represent who we are as people and would be counter productive to the team. There is not one of us out there that has made a bad call in life and when these moments occur you have a choice of how to handle it. We simply chose to wait until everyone had calmed down and not done anything that they would regret. After several hours of intense conversations with ADRL officials everyone agreed that the best thing to do was to just race. After the team got over our issues with this decision we went out and showed it on the track where it belongs. And race we did by taking Tim Savell to the finals for the rescheduled Memphis drags; we qualified two cars for the Martin race, and ran our first 3.95 ever! Our actions at the track were professional at all times and our fans were fantastic in their support, thank you Michigan! There is a lot of conjecture over this issue out there and we here at Bankston Boyz Racing would like to humbly ask our fans to let this go and to stop bashing the ADRL for this decision. We feel this does not represent who we are as racers or our value system. There is not another organization out there with this unique format for racing the baddest doorslammers in the world and we look forward to moving into the future with the ADRL as we all learn from our mistakes. So with this in mind we are going to roll into Topeka, KS on the weekend of July 4th and let our actions speak for us. Water under the bridge… Regards, Mark Teague |
