John, Stan, and Tim are ready to rock and roll at the ADRL Memphis Drags
The Bankston Boyz don't expect to see Elvis at the 660' marker but they are looking to do so some rockin' n' rollin' at the Quarter-Max Memphis Drags II at Memphis Motorsports Park in Millington, Tennessee on May 22-23rd.
Michael Bankston has been working with the Reher-Morrison brain trust to get his 3 cars into the 3.90 zone. Discoveries are being made daily on how to extract the most horsepower out of these potent nitrous motors.
All 3 cars can currently run in the extreme low 4.0's but this team knows that to win races in the ADRL Pro Nitrous class they need to run in the 3.90's or better. After running a 4.01 run in Valdosta, the 06 Jerry Haas ZO6 Corvette piloted by John DeFlorian is on the brink of a 3.90 pass and hopefully he'll find that elusive 3.90 zone this weekend in Memphis. Stan Allen won the first ADRL race of the year with consistent 4.0 runs, so getting the cars in the 3.90 range will hopefully produce another win for this team.
First weekend in May, Michael Bankston and the Boyz, Stan Allen and Tim Savell, loaded up the trailers and headed to No Problem Raceway in Belle Rose, LA to do some testing on gear ratios, clutch settings and 4-link changes. Being able to go out and test two practically identical cars with two different setups really allows this team to see what works and what doesn't. The third member of this team, John DeFlorian, was busy at the friendly confines of the JHRC shop and was unable to attend but anxiously awaited the results. The plan was to do 60' and 330' passes and then make adjustments. After a few hits on both cars, Michael Bankston was pleased with the results and knows if he can produce the same numbers in Memphis they have a good chance of getting a Bankston car to the winners circle.

The modifications made on Tim Savell's 68 Camaro produced better 60' and 330' times then when he ran the 3.994 in Houston at the first ADRL race. Stan Allen driving the other teams 68 Camaro also improved his incremental times and when DeFlorian heard the good news his need-for-speed smile went from ear to ear. John has been busy making modifications to his setup and will be in semi-test mode as he rolls in to Memphis but with what Michael Bankston has learned from the test session, John is confident that he'll be able to take that information and apply it to his car.
The Bankston Boyz race team will be pulling in to Memphis Motorsports Park on Thursday, May 21, and will be ready to do so some rockin' & rollin' on the track. You better believe that Tim Savell will lace up those 'blue suede' Simpson driver's shoes as he gets the Blue Beast ready to daintz, as they say down in Terry, MS! In the meantime DeFlorian will have his Corvette running like a 'Hound dog' down the full 660'! And not to be left out, Stan Allen will be at the front desk of the 'Heartbreak Hotel' for all the victims of this potent assault on the track in Memphis.
If this team can take that Reher-Morrison power and apply it to those Goodyear slicks like they did in testing then hopefully all 3 Bankston Boyz cars will qualify for the Pro Nitrous field like they did in Georgia, and then go rounds hopefully meeting up in the finals!
Just qualifying at an ADRL Pro Nitrous event can be a monumental task but Michael Bankston likes his odds on getting all 3 of his cars in the show for the Quarter-Max Memphis Drags II at Memphis Motorsports Park this weekend.
