Like most racers, John got a passion for racing and power as a teenager on the streets of St. Louis, Missouri with his first car a 1969 Plymouth Roadrunner that took him to school, work and the race track. Not long after that he was a machinist at a tool and die shop, but decided to change careers and go to work for a local chassis shop by the name of Gateway Race Cars and turned his passion into a full time job. After a few years he took his career to the next level, in 1988 he went to work for Jerry Haas Race Cars where he worked his way up to shop foreman and his love for the racetrack grew. With many years of Bracket racing, some NHRA Pro Stock, and various quick 16 races through out the Midwest under his belt, he decided in 2006 to take the next step in the form of racing that makes him the happiest, Outlaw Pro Mods.

During the winter of 2005 John started construction on what many have said is one of the nicest pro mods to hit the race track, A nitrous feed 2006 corvette that has been considered one of the most dominate cars on the Midwest pro mod circuit and various ADRL events. With the help of friends and fellow competitor's, John was able to compete at 15 events from 2006 to 2008 and qualify at 14 of them with 5 wins and 1 runner up. At the end of the 2008 season, Mike Bankston asked John and his crew chief of many years, Dan Hellmer along with crew members Mike Hodges, Bob Araldi and team manager Liann Byington to join them and form a 3 car team with a full assault on the 2009 ADRL circuit. With a team owner like Mike and 2 drivers like Stan Allen and Tim Savell how could you say no.

The 3 teams headed to the first race of 2009 with new motors in all 3 cars that were untested and qualified all 3 cars in one of the quickest fields there was in pro mod competition. As a driver and racing enthusiast John is looking forward to 2009 and beyond with the Mike Bankston racing team and all the marketing partners we have now and in the future
